Overview
The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is no doubt one of the outstanding routes in this area. The route is ideal for those trekkers who love to enjoy the flora and fauna and panoramic views of the Himalayan range. While walking we encounter the gorgeous lowlands and the wonderful high mountains, with breathtaking scenes of the Annapurna range.
The Annapurna Sanctuary trek takes you to Annapurna Base Camp, in the heart of the Sanctuary, offering the most spectacular mountain scenery. The region is characterised by charming settlements of Gurungs and their slate-roofed houses, incredible rhododendron forests ablaze with ivory, rose, apricot and crimson bouquets and deep, subtropical valleys. Below the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan range is Ghorepani and Poon Hill (3210m) one of the best panoramic spots in the Annapurna trekking region.
It is also considered as an ideal trek, as it involves very little high-altitude risk compared with other areas. The Annapurna Sanctuary trek begins in the terraced foothills close to Pokhara. Dhampus Ridge is the starting point, with excellent views of Annapurna II, Lamjung and Machhapuchhre. The trail passes through the Gurung villages of Landrung and Chomrong, where we spend the night. Then we pass through rhododendron and bamboo forests through Dovan, Himalaya and Hinko Cave above the Modi Khola River, and finally through the ‘gates’ of the Sanctuary. In the Sanctuary area we stay at Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3480m), and Annapurna Base Camp (3900m), with spectacular views all around us.
The Annapurna Sanctuary trek is considered to be one of the best ways to explore the Annapurna region. Our Annapurna Sanctuary trek is designed for both adventure travellers and those seeking to experience the superb nature, giving an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience with Yatra Himalaya.
